The title does not refer to the fact that NYC has been laid siege by terrorists, but by the fact that it is laid siege by the military after martial law is declared. A sort of interment camp is set up for suspect Arabs and the people demonstrate in the streets to oppose the actions of the military. The movie was obviously another product of liberal Hollywood designed to sublty espouse their leftist views. (Next time you watch a movie, try to identify the liberal hero, the evil conservative, and the empowered feminist. I swear that's the pattern in every movie they make.)
The thought that came to my mind was that that would have been the direction we were headed with leadership like we were getting under Bill Clinton, but thank heavens we are being led by George Bush who he has taken the battle to the middle east. In the movie, the terrorists are able to launch attack after attack, something it seems they were not able to do in the wake of 9/11 or, for that matter, since. It is truly sad that so many of our soldiers have lost their lives in battle (total casualties have reached 1000), but better that than thousands dead on our soil and a nation living in fear.
We can't be fooled into thinking that the absence of attacks has nothing to do with the aggressive military force that we have exercised in Afghanistan and Iraq. George Bush's foreign policy has made our world safer. Hopefully one day people will look back and honor him for what he has done for us all. He does not deserve the scorn he now receives from so many.
Look at the last comment on this page,
"It's interesting reading back on the comments on this film. Comments are mixed -
Some like it, some hate it. Some loved and hated it at the same time. But most
thought it was highly unlikely that this could ever happen in our world as we
know it. Until September 11th, 2001; The date of the World Trade Center and
Pentagon terrorist attacks. Now this movie gains nothing but praise for it's
foresight."

I don't entirely disagree about Hollywood, but since I'm a flaming liberal, I see it as a good thing. And I resent that the term liberal has been given a bad connotation by some. Look it up. It's a good thing.
