First Presidency Message

First Presidency Message: "Legal restraints against deviant moral behavior are eroding under legislative enactments and court opinions. This is done in the name of freedom of speech, freedom of the press, freedom of choice in so-called personal matters. But the bitter fruit of these so-called freedoms has been enslavement to debauching habits and behavior that leads only to destruction. A prophet, speaking long ago, aptly described the process when he said, 'And thus the devil cheateth their souls, and leadeth them away carefully down to hell' (2 Nephi 28:21). " Gordon B. Hinckley

But isn't part of free will the ability to make the choice (if I remember correctly, in the LDS religion Satan fell because of his angered rebellion over his idea to force individuals to do what was right and get everyone back through the pearly gates). If you think something is wrong, speak out against it and avoid doing it yourself. Putting legal hurdles in front of others prevents those people from exercising their freedom. You may not like what is being said or done, but taking away another person's ability to do it is not the answer. I think the idea of keeping up so-called "legal restraints" is closer to the LDS belief of "the devil [cheating] their souls" than providing the means to execute free will in any direction, right or wrong.

There are many reasons I left behind organized religion, hypocrisy is a very large one.
