This Sunday and every first Sunday of the month, Members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will fast for two meals and donate the equivalent cost or more to the Church's Fast Offering Fund. The Bishop's Storehouse (refered to in my previous post) and many other forms of aid can be funded by this fund. Above and beyond the Fast Offering Fund, the Church also has a Humanitarian Aid Fund that Members donate to on a regular basis. Money from the Humanitarian Aid Fund will be supplied to organizations like The Red Cross to aid in their relief efforts. In a Church with more than 5 million members in the US, a lot of difference could be made if each member just gave one dollar. Certainly, many will give much more.
