Perhaps you were sitting in an economics lecture hearing a professor boast of the brilliance of Karl Marx (while not fully appreciating the benefits of deodorant and a daily shower). You might have been in a history class learning about the deeply engrained oppression and racism that pervades American society (from a liberal who sends his kids to private school and lives in an all-white neighborhood).
Regardless of when it happened, you now realize that those Marxist ideas don't make any sense in the real world that most professors so adamantly avoid. You also realize that you value freedom and liberty over the totalitarianism advocated by your Marxist professors.
